Testimony of john amstel
Hi everybody! My name is Amstel.I work in the Human Resource Department of CMCT.Born and raised in a family of missionaries I had the privilege of learning about the Lord Jesus at an early age.But my experience of encountering the truth was a topsy-turvy ride.It happenend at different stages of my life in different forms. When punished for being disobedient at school at the age of seven I came to realize that I was a bad person and there was something inherently wrong in me.Later in a letter to my Dad I wrote,”I have accepted the Lord Jesus
as my personal saviour and I have confessed my sins.” I did not know if it meant anything to anybody but that was the start of my walk with the Lord.Studying in Dohnavur was a great blessing as time and again I was exposed to the truth that’Jesus is Lord of my life.’ I began to sing about Jesus and His love.As a teenager I learnt to play the guitar and chirped every now and then about my new-found faith in Jesus. But when I Left boarding school to pursue my higher studies,I felt that somehow my passion for the Lord Jesus had waned. In a different place, cut oof from godly friends and family,I felt the sting of deception as I craved for the things of the world.I had lost my love for Jesus. At this juncture,Professor Sebastian became a mentor and a personal guardian to me.He took the responsibility of nurturing me and overtime rekindled my passion to follow Jesus.
Life has never been a smooth ride from then on but today when I look back at the topsy-turvy ride,I sing a familiar song; “Through it all,I learnt to trust in Jesus,I learnt to trust inGod.” ‘Trusting God’ brought me to CMCT where get to encourage and help people from diffrent walks of life.If I continue to recount all that God has done in my life,I will have a lot more to write, but I trust this is sufficient to briefly summarize my testimony.
To God be all glory, honour, and praise!
