The hostel was started in the early 1970s. Situated on the fourth floor of the
CMCT building, it is home to girls from villages. Most of them have not been able to complete their schooling as they are poor.
The hostel houses 70 school-going and college-going girls, aged five to 18. They are under the care of house mothers, who work on a shift system so the girls are supervised at all times. Nourishing meals and medical and dental care are
provided. The aim is to educate and provide holistic development.
The children attend good schools and CMCT buses provide transport. When they complete Std XII, they are helped to make choices that will be beneficial in their future.
Many of the girls have completed courses in nursing, lab technology, physiotherapy, social work, pharmacy, secretarial, and kindergarten teacher’s training. Some girls have even moved on to become graduates.
