The Rainbow Rehabilitation Project was started to uplift the lives of people infected with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). The services are extended to the families of the infected and affected people. This project aims to meet the physical and emotional needs of both the beneficiaries and their families. Professional social workers conduct surveys, do follow-ups, counsel patients and conduct self-employment training programmes.
Beneficiaries of the Rainbow project are given food rations sufficient for a month. The rations are nutritious and necessary when taking HIV medicines (ART).
The total number of people who benefit from this scheme is 260.
Self-employment skill development training has been imparted and this helps them earn a living. The beneficiaries are trained in making candles, flowers, household cleaning products and paper covers for medical purposes. The sales and marketing are coordinated by CMCT staff.
