The school provides free education to the children who live in informal settlements. The school is recognised by the Government. However, the school receives no funds from the government and is run on donations.
The primary school was started in 1990 and is today a full-fledged school with classes from Lower Kindergarten to Higher Secondary. The Primary School has a strength of 400 while the Higher Secondary School has more than 1000 children. The school employs qualified teachers. A mid-day meal is provided for the children. Thanks to the sponsorship programme, students have uniforms, bags, shoes, textbooks, and exercise books.
Special emphasis is given to extracurricular activities, sports and games. The school boasts of a choir and a master who trains the children. There is also a school band. The Physical Education teacher ensures that the children are trained to compete with other schools in games and sports. There are two streams – Tamil and English medium and the latter has classes up to Std X.
